1. Planning Process-deciding what to do
- Don't get
caught in a rut of doing the same projects over and over every year.
- Make it a goal to try something
new.
- Review past project reports, look at the old notebooks for ideas, and check out the PASC Project
Booklet for ideas too.
- Get your committee to brainstorm ideas on the blackboard.
- Use the calendar of ideas form and fill it in with projects and dates you
plan to do them. (form attached) The first
calendar meeting will be held in early October and projects for Oct-Jan should be planned. Second calendar meeting will be
in January.
2. Planning the Project-delegating responsibilities
- Use the project planning sheet
(form attached) to write down all parts of your project and who volunteered to do what. Hang it in the SAO where committee
members can see it as a reminder.
- Delegate responsibility and do NOT try to do it all yourself. Neither
you or your committee members will be happy if you do that. They want to be involved and can do it, if you let them.
- Show them where things are: computer file under your committee name, supplies, your mailbox for forms etc. Provide the resources
they need to be successful. They will feel like a part of the group and invested in the project, if they are involved in the
planning of the project from the beginning..
- Keep copies of all forms used, the project planning sheet,
a to do list or what ever you use in your committee notebook.
3. Evaluate the project
- Use the
evaluation form for all projects. (form attached)
- At the next meeting of the committee after the completion
of a project, have your members be specific and detailed as you fill out the form. Use additional paper if needed. It should
help the next time the project is done.
- Turn the evaluation form into the president who will review
and sign and then it is given to your advisor for comments and returned to you for your notebook. The important thing is to
be specific.
- Complete the notebook part for the project; make sure it is self explanatory, so
someone else understands how to do project.
- Recognize committee members who did a great job. Recommend
a committee member to the president to be recognized for their effort.
- Celebrate if it was a big project before you go on to the
next one.
